Practice the Art of Presence
Hridaya’s Karma Yoga Immersion Course (KYIC) is consecrated to deepening the understanding of the yoga of action, Karma Yoga. It is a profoundly spiritual process that aims to transcend personal psychological and physical limitations by dissolving the identification with the ego and its tendencies and habitual patterns.
This course is offered as a container for spiritual deepening. The ability to remain present amid life’s varied situations can be cultivated and naturally arises when we are engaged in sincere spiritual investigation. This process requires a clear understanding of Awareness and an aspiration to go beyond reactivity.
The KYIC offers a dedicated 75-day container for introspection and the embodiment of profound transformation through the direct path of Self-Inquiry. This period provides the time needed to integrate and stabilize the gained insights and shifts.
Periods of stepping away from the usual flow of daily life are rare and deeply valuable. They offer the space necessary for reactive tendencies to be consistently seen, questioned, and gradually transformed. Bringing such focused awareness to every action, via a proper spiritual understanding, is the essence of the practice of Karma Yoga.
This course is based on the non-dual teachings of Hridaya Yoga. Due to its intensity, it is meant for those who have an earnest aspiration for truth and freedom and are willing to selflessly serve while going deep on the path to the recognition of the Spiritual Heart via Self-Inquiry, atma vichara, as taught by the sage Ramana Maharshi.
One of the main aims of this program is to develop clarity and stability in the practice of Self-Inquiry in any conditions that arise, whether on the mat or while active in the world—which is the true practice of Karma Yoga. To support this, we develop a strong foundation of resting in the Heart, based on four pillars:
- A deep trust in the Spiritual Heart, developed through understanding and direct experience
- The anchoring in presence and sacredness, resting in the Heart Center (as described by Ramana Maharishi)
- Resting in the recognition of the pure “I am”-feeling
- Deep awareness of the present moment
These pillars are all different nuances of the same movement toward the Heart.
Through continual surrender to Presence, the processes offered in this course support an awakening to spontaneity and a greater openness to life, leading to a resting in the natural state. This becomes an intimate celebration of life in the present moment. Participants often experience a gradual release from identification with the personal self.
