Webmaster Job Description

Purpose: 

Hridaya Yoga’s Webmaster manages our online presence in order to promote enrollment in our courses and spread the teachings of the Spiritual Heart to a wider audience. Though a paid position, the Webmaster performs their job in the spirit of Karma Yoga, selfless service for the benefit of others.

Job Summary: 

The Webmaster is responsible for the updating, optimization, maintenance, and general administration of the Hridaya Yoga websites (hridaya-yoga.com, sivasakti.com, and tantramag.com). Working with the guidance of the Communications Coordinators in Mexico and France, the Webmaster conducts a thorough and regular review of the websites to generate and implement strategies to improve user experience, site speed, and SEO. Additionally, the Webmaster supports our presence on YouTube and affiliate marketing sites and creates ads across various online platforms.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining the Hridaya Yoga websites (updating plugins, checking for broken links, etc.)
  • Publishing content changes and performing website updates as requested by departmental coordinators
  • Uploading course description pages, blog posts, newsletters, international events listings, and other information following the editorial calendar managed by the Communications Coordinators
  • Updating existing web pages to improve on-page SEO, refresh images, etc.
  • Reviewing all new website content before publication to meet SEO best practices
  • Providing website technical support and getting support from our web host and plugin creators as needed
  • Generating and sharing a monthly website analytics report summarizing performance and including suggestions for improvement
  • Designing and implementing a plan for better website performance and reach via SEO, IU, and UX improvements, backlinking, site speed optimizations, etc.
  • Staying up-to-date on changes to SEO best practices, Google’s algorithm, etc.
  • Liaising with the Welcome Desk teams as needed to integrate booking links on appropriate webpages
  • Uploading videos to YouTube following best practices for YouTube SEO
  • Scheduling Google, YouTube, and Facebook ads as requested by the Communications Coordinators
  • Updating course listings on bookyogaretreats.com
  • Formatting newsletters and updating audiences in Mailchimp
  • Maintaining website administration guides and password files
  • Remaining open to supporting other tasks that arise due to changing organizational needs

Desired Qualifications & Attributes:

  • Mexican citizen or permanent resident (highly desirable); successful applicants without legal work authorization will be required to go through a regularization process to obtain a temporary visa with a work permit
  • Experience practicing Hridaya Yoga (highly desirable)
  • Meticulous attention to detail (required)
  • Ability to make a minimum 1-year commitment to the position
  • Previous experience working with online and CMS applications (WordPress  required) and a firm understanding of the technical aspects of website maintenance
  • Fluency in the use of the Elementor plugin
  • Knowledge of industry standards for SEO and user experience design, including on-page SEO via the Yoast plugin
  • Experience maintaining a multilingual website, ideally using the WPML plugin
  • Fluency in analytical programs (Google Analytics, etc.)
  • Experience setting up Google, YouTube, and Facebook ads (highly desirable)
  • Familiarity with best practices for YouTube SEO
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (required), proficiency in Spanish and/or French (highly desirable)
  • The ability to lead, follow, take initiative, and take direction and the discernment to know when each is appropriate
  • A spirit of service, the ability to step up and perform whatever task is necessary for the good of the whole
  • The ability to meet deadlines and remain calm under pressure
  • The ability to differentiate between your role in supporting the work of Hridaya Yoga and personal objectives

Commitments and Benefits:

The Webmaster works 30 hours per week on a schedule that is workflow-dependent and flexible to accomplish scheduled tasks. Support and maintenance tasks are performed daily (5 days per week). This position may be done remotely.

Please note that the Hridaya Yoga Center is a non-smoking and drug-free facility. We cannot employ staff members with alcohol issues, who currently smoke (including tobacco or plant medicine), or who use any form of recreational drug.
