PURPOSE:
Hridaya Yoga’s Photographer/Videographer supports our mission to share the teachings of the Spiritual Heart by producing visually appealing and brand-aligned audiovisuals, thus increasing Hridaya Yoga’s visibility. Though in a paid position, the Photographer/Videographer performs their job in the spirit of Karma Yoga, selfless service for the benefit of others.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Photographer/Videographer reports to the Communications Coordinator, supporting internal and external communications with beautiful photographs and audiovisuals. They work mindfully, efficiently, and with a consistently high standard to showcase everything that Hridaya Yoga offers.
KEY OBJECTIVES:
- Record and edit all Hridaya Yoga audiovisual projects for national and international campaigns as well as for internal use
- Captivate our audience by creating videos that reflect the Hridaya tone, style, philosophy, values, and teachings
- Create videos that demonstrate knowledge of the Hridaya Yoga audience and its promotional channels
- Maintain a curious attitude in order to generate new ideas for projects
- Manage all audiovisual files, saving and archiving them per the Hridaya Yoga Data Storage Guidelines
- Ensure all work is completed following our standards, supporting continuity and stability, the transition to new staff, and the long-term use of audiovisual materials by freelancers
- Adhere to brand guidelines in all audiovisuals, supporting the enhancement of the Hridaya Yoga profile
DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Photographer/Videographer works with the Communications Coordinator to create audiovisual content and deliver it across Hridaya Yoga’s key media platforms.
This includes:
- Filming/photographing Hridaya events and community life
- Creating videos for the newsletter and other channels
- Being aware of event schedules and coordinating with teachers, workshop presenters, and retreat leaders to shoot at appropriate times
- Recording student testimonials
- Producing motion graphics to enhance video content and to spread the teachings
- Generating audio materials for instructional and advertising purposes
- Editing audiovisual content to support Hridaya’s teaching program as well as our marketing efforts on social media and our website
- Managing content on YouTube, uploading new videos as needed
- Organizing weekly recording sessions to supplement our library of audiovisual materials
- Creating captions to ensure all materials are available in required languages
- Providing a weekly status report to the Communications Coordinator
- Other tasks as required by changing organizational needs
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Meditation and yoga practitioner (required), Hridaya Yoga experience (highly desirable)
- Related professional education and at least one year’s experience working with audiovisual equipment (camera, microphones, lighting) and software (Final Cut, Adobe Suite Collection)
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English (required), proficiency in Spanish and/or French (highly desirable)
- Knowledge of industry standards for visually attractive projects (desirable)
- Ability to make a 6-month minimum commitment to the position

- Active listening skills, the ability to ask the right questions to fully understand the needs of Hridaya Yoga and the willingness to ensure that audiovisuals align with these requirements

WORK HOURS AND BENEFITS:
The Photographer/Videographer can expect to work full-time (5 days per week, approximately 6 hours per day) and will be open to working additional hours to support special events or when the need arises.
