Communications Coordinator Job Description


The Communications Department at Hridaya Yoga exists in order to help share the teachings of the Spiritual Heart. As such, our efforts arise from the idea that by increasing the profile of Hridaya, we are helping more people begin to discover their Divine Essence. Though a paid position, the Communications Coordinator (CC) performs their job in the spirit of Karma Yoga, selfless service for the benefit of others.

Job Summary:

The CC is responsible for the effective management of the marketing, advertising, and promotion of Hridaya Yoga Mexico. Working with the guidance of the Head of Administration and in partnership with the Communications Coordinator at Hridaya France, the CC helps design Hridaya’s overall communications strategy, develops short- and long-term plans, and executes and/or oversees projects. The CC supervises a team of employees, volunteers, and consultants in order to achieve desired objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with the CC at Hridaya France to develop strategies and execute new projects that increase the profile of Hridaya Yoga and, therefore, help spread the teachings
  • Overseeing content generation and production. This includes:
    • Managing our editorial calendar
    • Creating and prioritizing projects for our Graphic Designer, Content Writer, Videographer, Karma Yogis, and other members of the Communications Department
    • Designing and implementing promotional campaigns for Hridaya’s core offerings, workshops, and special events
    • Supporting online and print campaigns
    • Managing our social media accounts (Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram)
    • Extending our social media presence into new platforms as appropriate
    • Developing our recorded and live offerings on Insight Timer
    • Collaborating with Hridaya teachers to create engaging content for our blog, newsletter, social media channels, website, and other platforms
    • Printing and distributing ads, event posters, brochures, calling cards, and other publications as needed
    • Creating videos that promote the school and share the teachings
    • Ensuring messaging across all channels is consistent
    • Conducting regular reviews of social media and website analytics to determine the efficacy of current practices and generate ideas for modifications and new campaigns
    • Managing paid promotional campaigns on Google, Facebook, and Instagram and generating monthly reports on their efficacy
  • Supporting the development and maintenance of the Hridaya website, including SEO and UX
  • Managing the team budget and performing a close analysis of return on investment
  • Researching potential new markets internationally and in Mexico
  • Collaborating with other departments to further team goals and enhance the overall functioning of the community
  • Maintaining effective internal communications to ensure that the entire Hridaya staff is informed about communications objectives and campaigns

Desired Qualifications & Attributes:

  • Mexican citizen or permanent resident (highly desirable); successful applicants without legal work authorization will be required to go through a regularization process to obtain a temporary visa with a work permit
  • Meditation and yoga practitioner (required), Hridaya Yoga experience (highly desirable)
  • Ability to make a minimum 1-year commitment to the position
  • Previous experience in all aspects of developing and managing communications strategies, ideally in a multilingual, multicultural environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (required), proficiency in Spanish (highly desirable)
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to think strategically
  • Experience developing and implementing engaging and fun social media campaigns
  • The ability to lead, follow, take initiative, and take direction and the discernment to know when each is appropriate
  • Fluency in analytical programs (Google Analytics, Facebook Business Manager, etc.)
  • Proven ability to manage and motivate staff and delegate tasks
  • Creativity, persuasiveness, enthusiasm, desire to innovate
  • A spirit of service, the ability to step up and perform whatever task is necessary for the good of the whole
  • The ability to meet deadlines and remain calm under pressure
  • Strong analytical and project management skills
  • The ability to differentiate between your role in supporting the work of Hridaya Yoga and your personal objectives

Commitments and Benefits:

The Communications Coordinator can expect to work full-time (5 days per week, approximately 6 hours per day) and will be open to working additional hours to support special events or when the need arises.

Please note that the Hridaya Yoga Center is a non-smoking and drug-free facility. We cannot employ staff members with alcohol issues, who currently smoke (including tobacco or plant medicine), or who use any form of recreational drug.
