Hatha Yoga as taught at the Hridaya Yoga Center is distinct from other schools as it engages not only the physical body, but the entire being.

In Hridaya Yoga, during the practice of Hatha Yoga, the physical asanas combine with advaita vedanta, the vision of non-duality. The asanas are performed while holding the inner spiritual attitudes recommended in traditional texts of Tantra and Kashmir Shaivism. They are oriented towards getting intimate inner knowledge of the physical body, of its bio-energies and of our Real Nature, the Spiritual Heart. Therefore, a contemplative attitude is necessary and indispensable.

Hridaya Hatha Yoga is a contemplative style of hatha yoga. It aims not only to purify the physical and energetic bodies but also to develop awareness starting from the physical body and expanding it to the subtle bodies. An awareness of the awareness itself is cultivated, making the asana practice a meditation as well.

The physical body is a complex instrument capable of expressing our existence in the physical world. By our asana practice, we make it vibrate in various ways, the same way we would use a musical instrument. It is important, in Hridaya, to express this harmony in our daily life as well. This is how we learn to bring grace, awareness and simplicity to our gestures. Thus, Pure Presence, the Heart is expressed naturally and free of limitations of who we are.

Hridaya Hatha Yoga classes are inspiring for beginners and advanced practitioners alike. They are taught by a variety of qualified teachers holding 500-hour Teacher Training certificates.

Unless otherwise stated, English is the primary language of instruction. As we often offer bilingual (Spanish/English) drop-in classes, please contact us at info@hridaya-yoga.com for more information.
