Hridaya Yoga Newsletter
“The only happiness there is, is of the Self.”
Dear Hridaya Sangha,
We trust this finds you well and going ever deeper in Love and Awareness.
A Message from Sahajananda
At the beginning of 1948, Gandhi undertook his last fast in New Delhi, in order to persuade Hindus and Muslims in that city to come back to peace. And he succeeded…If this kind of behavior doesn’t seem completely crazy to you, if acting for the love of others makes sense and you believe in its redemptive potentialities, then honor such faith as a precious treasure of your heart. And know that you are never alone, because this hallmark brings us together. When expressed, this love-action becomes the highest form of karma yoga. True action is not in conflict with being, but an affirmation of it. Real work brings us back to the Center. Selfish action is a denial of the Heart, is a forgetfulness of what we are. The more externalized our actions, the more our thoughts, emotions, and dramas become incurable platitudes. They bring attainments but not awareness. They are poisonous because they dissolve the sense of eternity.
Love-action is in itself Self-Inquiry and its silent answer. The sweet madness of selflessness is the main power that changes paradigms and worlds… Trust in it!
In reverence for the universal Love that shines in you-me,
Happenings at the Hridaya Yoga Center
Our staff and volunteers have been working hard over the last few months to beautify and further develop our beloved Center in Mazunte, Mexico. One particularly fruitful project has been the construction of terraced gardens. We are now growing our own Indian spinach, sweet potatoes, pigeon peas, bananas, papayas, watermelons, mangos, grapefruit, noni, passion fruit, pineapples, and numerous herbs. The gardens help prevent erosion and give us ready access to delicious produce grown with love.
Although generally a quieter time of year, we find the Center is still quite busy this summer, as we continue to offer monthly 3- and 10-day Hridaya Silent Meditation Retreats, Module 1 Intensives, and Module 2. See the calendar for the complete schedule.
Ramana Village Project
The announcement of the new Hridaya residential project, Ramana Village, has caused an echo of excitement throughout the sangha. After two months of many enthusiastic emails, the project is now going into the next crucial phase, and a handful of Hridaya teachers and students are beginning to actively search for suitable properties in selected areas of Portugal. If you feel you can support the project at this stage or wish to contribute any ideas, please contact Kilian (email@example.com).
Synchronized Hridaya Meditations
This Sunday, 21 June, marks the Summer Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere and the Winter Solstice in the Southern Hemisphere. The solstice is a time to honor the light of consciousness as the very expression of pure awareness, the embracing ocean of Oneness in which any personal expression, thought, or emotion appears as a tiny spot of color. It is also a good time to set intentions. So, we invite you to join us for two synchronized meditations in celebration of the pure light of consciousness, of which the sun is a symbol. We will meditate together as a sangha (from wherever we are in the world) from 11:00 am-12:00 pm Mazunte time (GMT -6) on both Sunday, 21 June and Sunday, 28 June. Those who would like to support the development of Ramana Village can help set the collective intention by sending blessings for the project from 11:45 am-12:00 pm on both 21 and 28 June. Starting on 21 June, you can also join us in a daily 5-minute meditation from 8:00-8:05 am (Mazunte time) to bless this spiritual project.
