“To Love is to reach God.” ~Rumi

Dear Lovers of the Heart,

Blessed New Year!

It is a threshold between years. During this time we tend to express hopes and expectations for what we’ll do and how the next year will be.

Let the fever of the spiritual calling, not just rational optimism, provide the enthusiasm and bring your trust in life.

Look for revolutions inside, not outside. May this year make you understand that the real transformations come from the Heart. Remember that the moments you look at the stars don’t pertain to temporality. And that you come closer to what you are when you keep merging your being in eternity.

Keep the awareness of the awareness. It was not out of cynicism or extravagance that Diogenes, the ancient sage, walked with a lantern in broad daylight, to look for a real man. He was looking for a man of awareness…

With Love,

The Year in Review
2013 was a busy year for Hridaya Yoga, as more and more people heard the calling of the Heart. The expansion of the facilities at our center in Mazunte to include a spacious third yoga hall and beautiful new private rooms and dormitories, meant that we were fully equipped as a residential retreat center. We were even mentioned on Savoir Faire Abroad as one of the 50 Mexican Experiences To Do Before You Die.
Our workshop series continued to expand, with Sahajananda debuting The Art of Awareness, an exploration of the Vijnana Bhairava Tantra, in February. This spring also saw the introduction of our popular Practical Tantra workshop.
The inaugural Prathyabhijna 49-Day Silent Meditation Retreat was an overwhelming success, with all of its 12 participants emerging deeply transformed by their experience.

Our monthly Hridaya Silent Meditation Retreats proved the most popular program, with 75 participants joining the November retreat. Elle magazine in Romania published a profile of the retreat, extolling the power of the experience for even a first-time attendee.

The third annual Hridaya Meditation and Yoga Teacher Training Course was beautifully transformative, with 26 enthusiastic new teachers receiving their certificates at an emotional ceremony in December.

And, our international branches flourished, with the good news of the Spiritual Heart being shared from Guatemala to Germany, Canada to Thailand, and beyond.

Looking Ahead

2014 will be another busy, dynamic year for Hridaya.
We have expanded our online presence, ramping up our efforts to keep the sangha connected around the world. Like our Facebook page, follow us on Twitter, and subscribe to our YouTube channel to stay abreast of current events and to reconnect with the message of the Heart.

The second Pratyabhijna 49-Day Silent Meditation Retreat will begin on 24 January. There was an outpouring of interest in this retreat, the invitation to spend 7 weeks immersed in the Heart resonating deeply with so many, and it is fully booked, with spaces only available on the waiting list. We will offer another 49-Day Retreat in October; contact us to begin the application process.

In March, we will debut Module 1 of the Hridaya Intensive Yoga Retreat. Module 1 is a holistic course that creates the conditions for the revelation of our real nature, the Spiritual Heart. The teachings unfold over 4 weeks, with each week dedicated to a different theme: Subtle Structures, Purifications, Spiritual Transformation and Grace, and Integration in Daily Life. Daily morning and afternoon hatha yoga and meditation practices and evening lectures allow students to go deeper in their theoretical and practical understanding of the Consciousness of Oneness. Module 1 aims, through its vision, methods and attitudes, to make the teachings resonate profoundly within each of us. We warmly invite you to join us for this transformative course.

Our workshop series will continue to be comprehensive, with a Spanish Yoga and Meditation Intensive in January and April, The Art of Awareness in February, and the introduction of the From Pain to Peace workshop in March.

We have already begun receiving applications for the next Hridaya Meditation and Yoga Teacher Training Course, which will be held 21 September-13 December. Contact us with any questions about how to join the blossoming ranks of Hridaya teachers.

Overall, 2014 is shaping up to be a year of depth, Stillness, and expansion. From the Heart, we wish you peace, love, and wisdom throughout the coming year.

With blessings,
The Hridaya Sangha
