Sahridaya Refuge, Tepoztlán, Mexico
Sahridaya Refuge is a community space in the sacred valley of Tepoztlán, a beautiful holistic town one hour outside Mexico City. Among other things, we have a beautiful outdoor yoga hall, rooftop views of the mountains and surrounding valleys, a spacious house (featuring a single room, a double room with private meditation space, and dorm room) that includes a 24-hour personal practice room. We offer daily, weekly, and monthly rates.
Our vision is to create a place for integration of the spiritual practice. We feel this is the perfect environment to bridge spirituality and daily life, while we serve the community and support our family and sadhana. We recognize the importance and sacredness of the Sangha and feel inspired to hold a safe space for spiritual seekers to come and go deeper in themselves and stabilize their practice while relaxing and nourishing the body, mind, and soul.
We welcome Hridaya teachers to come and share their Heart offerings with our community, too.
Tara has been practicing yoga and meditation since 2009. She completed the Hridaya Teacher Training Course in 2013 and has taught at the Hridaya Center in Mazunte and lead one-on-one coaching sessions, silent meditation retreats, and workshops in Mexico City and, now, Tepoztlán.
While Paul, after having graduated from the Hridaya Yoga Retreat: Module 1 and embarking on several silent meditation retreats (including kaya kalpa retreats) was initiated onto the path of the Spiritual Heart in December, 2016.
What ongoing courses and activities do you offer?
We offer monthly 1-day Hridaya Yoga immersions, 3-Day Hridaya Silent Meditation Retreats in English and Spanish, daily morning meditation and hatha yoga, conscious evening activities (discussion circles, movie nights, meditations, etc.), and Karma Yoga opportunities. We also offer meditation for children, one-on-one facilitation sessions at the Refuge or online, Sacred Geometry workshops, and Non-Violent Communication courses.
Do you have any interesting upcoming events?
April 7-9, 2017: We have a 3-day “Fundamentals of Hridaya Yoga” workshop in Spanish lead by Tara and Latifa, introducing the basic introductory topics of the theory and practice of Hridaya Yoga.
April 29-May 1, 2017: A 3-Day Hridaya Silent Meditation Retreat. These will continue every month on or around the New Moon.
Can you mention your future projects, if any?
We are planning to offer weekly intensive yoga and meditation packages with options to take the 3-day retreat scheduled straight after. Tara is also hosting a conscious summer camp for children at the Refuge and both Tara and Paul are working on workshops involving conscious parenting and NVC (Tara) and Sacred Geometry and Crystals (Paul). We also intend to start work on a permaculture garden with the help of the beautifully talented Hridaya teacher Christoff.
Is there anything else you would like people to know about your center?
Recently, we have felt the call to offer our retreats and retreat meals on a conscious donation basis. We feel inspired to share the teachings that have so transformed our lives and offer our humble transmission as a service by making the teachings available to everyone. We want to be the change we want to see in the world, to support our community and everyone who is called to this path of transformation and open-hearted living.
